Pressure Indicator Transmitter

Digital indicator,

4-20 milliamp output

for sending an analog signal to control & monitoring instrumentation.

The built-in digital indicators can be scaled,

via push buttons or change pots to any pressure unit or a 0-100% full scaling.

No extra external supply is required,

since the digital indicator is powered by the 4-20mA current loop,

from the hart pressure transmitter.

Product Description of  Pressure Indicator Transmitter

When we think of pressure measurement or monitoring applications,

the first thought is usually of high-pressure gas or liquid pipelines,

in industrial settings with an array of gauges,

sensors and controllers to ensure smooth operation.

While applications such as this are common,

there are also a wide range of pressure applications,

that need a more subtle approach to pressure measurement and monitoring.

A pressure indicating transmitter is an instrument for measuring,

controlling and indicating positive, negative or differential pressures of different fluids.

Depending on the configuration,

a Pressure Transmitter may output the gauge pressure or the absolute pressure.

Pressure Indicating Transmitters display the pressure the operator and convert the signal to be sent to an external destination.  Pressure transmitters do not contain a local display.

Inputs:  Pressure Transmitters can be loop powered or externally powered.  Typically the AC voltages are 120 volts or below.  DC voltages range as high as 42 VDC.

Outputs:  Output can be 4-20mA, Fieldbus, DeviceNet or mV.

Process connections of  Pressure Indicator Transmitter

Process connections are made of several different materials.

316L SST, Hastelloy, Monel.

When using a Pressure transmitter,

it should be mounted on a manifold valve to allow the transmitter to be removed while it is in service.

Applications of pressure indicator transmitters

The pressure indicator is a vague term.

After all, any gauge or sensor/readout combination will indicate the pressure.

What separates pressure indicators from other pressure measurement devices,

is the way they are designed and used.

This makes pressure indicators a bit of a catch-all pressure measurement category,

that stands in contrast to gauges and sensors.

Industrial and commercial settings have many pressure applications,

that call for the versatile, self-contained low-pressure measurement provided by pressure indicators.

Pressure indicators are useful for monitoring room pressures,

in demand ventilation systems or in pressure-positive cleanrooms.

They are also ideal for a variety of HVAC applications,

such as measuring flue draft and setting balancing valves.

Pressure indicators are a simple way to test pump performance,

pneumatic controls or regulators.

Other applications for which pressure indicators are ideal include:

leak testing, quick calibration of gauges and transducers,

the monitoring pressure drop across filters, or as a temporary replacement for test gauges.

Differential Air Pressure Indicator Transmitter

1. This Differential Air Pressure Indicator Transmitter uses a microprocessor and has self-diagnosis capabilities. It does a good job of remote and local setup and calibration. Its two-wire system is HART compliant and provides uninterrupted output.

It has good stability, high precision,

adjustable damping and strong single rail overload capability.

Its stainless steel fully enclosed housing is water resistant. It provides visual monitoring and electronic control with very low differential pressure. Its differential pressure measurement is primarily used in home and industrial applications.

It is usually the basis for other measurements,

such as flow, level, density, viscosity, and even temperature. The most common are levels and flows. One of the most common applications for DP flow measurement.

2. Differential Air Pressure Indicator Transmitter calculates the flow,

by measuring the difference in fluid pressure as it flows through the pipe.

It has primary and secondary components.

In general, the main components are designed to create a pressure differential,

as the flow rate increases.

It is designed to measure the differential pressure,

generated by the main components as accurately as possible. Differential pressure measurements are unaffected,

by changes in fluid pressure, temperature, or other properties such as ambient temperature.

It ensures that the differential pressure measurement is independent of other variation parameters,

and reliably transmits the signal to represent the differential pressure.

Differential Air Pressure Indicator Transmitter,

is suitable for oil, petrochemical, chemical, electric power,

city gas, steel, non-ferrous metals, ceramics, machinery, shipbuilding, and other industries.

What is the difference between a pressure sensor, transducer, transmitter, and switch?

Pressure transmitter?

Pressure transducer?

Pressure sensor?

Pressure switch?

What are they and how are they different from each other?

There are many different types of devices in the pressure sensing industry,

the names of which can be confusing to the uninitiated.

All these terms are specific to variable capacitive sensing technologies,

which is the detection and measurement of fluid pressure,

through the change in voltage across a capacitor.

This pressure sensing technology is accurate, going as low as ±0.07% of full scale.

Variable capacitance technology is used on applications,

where a high degree of accuracy is paramount,

such as engine test stands and pressure decay leak detection.

Pressure Sensors

A pressure sensor is any device,

that measures pressure and converts it to an electrical signal.

It’s an all-encompassing term that includes pressure transducers, transmitters,

and switches (these will be defined below).

All transducers, transmitters, and switches are sensors,

but not all sensors are transducers, transmitters, or switches.

Also, there is a DP sensor.

Pressure Switches

Unlike a transducer or transmitter,

that can translate all the pressures in its range,

a pressure switch will trigger at a specific set pressure. That set pressure can either be high or low and can either engage or disengage a circuit.

These are commonly found in vehicles to indicate low engine oil pressure,

and in gas compressors with an automatic shut-off mechanism.

Pressure indicator vs pressure transmitter

Pressure transducers and pressure transmitters are very similar.

A pressure transducer is an electromechanical device,

for translating pressure values,

into voltages across a high-impedance load (5,000 ohms or greater).

On the other hand, a transmitter translates pressure values,

into currents (generally 4-20 mA) across a low-impedance load.

In general, transmitters are preferred,

when sending a signal over long distances (i.e. over thousands of feet).

Neither of which, yet, can change or control pressure.

These devices are solely for measuring pressure,

and communicating the output electronically or visually.

Pressure indicator vs pressure gauge

Pressure Indicators is a broad term,

covering any instrument that senses pressure and records it.

A pressure gauge is normally a mechanical device,

that senses pressure and records or converts it physically into reading on a scale.

So a pressure gauge is a pressure indicator.

But there are also pressure indicators that do not gauge.

Pressure sensors are devices that measure pressure,

but convert it to an electrical signal.

Such as a pressure transducer which converts to voltage,

or a pressure transmitter which converts to amperage.

These signals are used to record and display the pressure in various ways.

There is also a pressure switch,

which senses a specific pressure in a system,

and opens or closes a switch to control a process;

such as a compressor that turns on when pressure is low or turns off when pressure is high.

All of these can be thought of as pressure indicators.

Pressure indicators are often called manometers,

itself a generic term for pressure measurement devices. Barometers, not only used as weather instruments but also as aeronautics instruments or industrial components,

are also types of pressure indicators.
